FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

Students interested in taking a preparatory language course during their first or second academic year (at UMONS in French, at UPV/EHU in Spanish or Basque, at UWASA in Finnish and at IHU in Greek) can sign up for a multiple-week intensive course prior to the semester start or a regular course. Any fees incurred by this courses are payable to the individual universities and are not part of the tuition fee.

Students are not required to take such a language course, but are being recommended for it. Experience has shown that it is a useful way to already become acquainted with a university and the city in which it is located during the official start of the academic year, because in addition to the linguistic aspect, the language course generally also includes applied elements, in which participating students learn about the local culture through field trips or sessions on how to open a bank account, where to register as a student, where to find the cheapest cell phone plan, and other such practical aspects.

The possible language course fees are paid directly to the organizing institution upon signing up for the language course.
